Systemize Your Business: Ways Your Company Can Run On Autopilot

So What Does It Mean To Systemize Your Business?

To systemize your business, what does this actually mean? It should not be new concept to you. In fact, you’ve probably done it for years without realizing it. Before you made the plunge into entrepreneurship, you may have been a nine-to-fiver. Your “system” may have looked like this:

  • Make the coffee.
  • Get into the shower.
  • Get the kids off to school.
  • Go to work.
  • Go home.
  • Take the kids to ballet or soccer practice, or meet your friends.
  • Prepare, order, or go out to dinner...
  • ...or whatever you do in the evening before bed.
  • Rinse and repeat.

Systemizing means no more than setting up schedules and timelines to organize your day, month, year and your life. Your life becomes mechanized; you accomplish things you need to do without even thinking about it.

It doesn’t matter if you are the only employee in your company or have 10,000 employees, putting systems in place is critical to operating your business.

Why Systemize

CB Insights did a study to determine the reasons why new businesses fail. The number one reason relates to the lack of competitive and product research. Lack of good systems and people is another reason.  Most new entrepreneurs get so excited about their new brainchild that they do not determine whether or not their ideas are viable in the marketplace. They are certain that they’ve got a million-dollar-baby that would skyrocket.

Unfortunately, after months of running in circles, without a good plan or systems, they fail. The money is gone; their product or service is not in demand, and now it’s too late. Planning and systemizing should be the very first things you should do in your business.

Of course, this is just the short list; you can go much further with your plan of action.

Danger Will Robinson!

Don’t put this off!  When you are ready to realize your dreams, start systemizing and planning now. It doesn’t have to be perfect right out of the gate; just get it down on paper and out of your head.

Many people who become entrepreneurs do so because they are creatives, and not particularly experienced in business.
